Course purpose
This course has been designed for students who need to study intensively and plan to take the IELTS exam in the near future. This course is open to students from Pre-Intermediate level who want to improve 4 skills, especially Speaking and Writing. It is a longer course in terms of classroom time but it meets for 3 hours per day instead of 1.5 hours.
This course not only helps students improve their skills quickly but also provides knowledge for the exam. Students should be fully prepared to take the Ielts exam upon completing this course.
Course Content
The course will focus on 4 skills:
The Listening skills: how to listen attentively and answer each of the different question types with clear instructions. Students will learn what the listening test is all about - what sort of questions and format to expect - and they will study how to complete them, what common errors to avoid, and some tips to help them build skill and accuracy.
The Reading skills: Trainers will teach students how to understand the reading text and find information quickly and efficiently as well as guide students through the specific question types and how to answer them. Student will be taught what to expect in the reading test, and how to approach the different sections.
The Writing skills: Will help students prepare for the specific tasks that will be asked in the test. The tutorials focus on improving the skills students will need and will provide ideas on how to plan the answers. They will learn about what to expect in the IELTS Writing test and will get expert tips to make sure students can manage their time well and the answers are clear and focused.
Speaking skills: Students will develop natural expressions, discourse markers and phrases to use in the exam. In addition they will learn strategies to answer different question types, and work towards fluency, in Part 1, 2 and 3 of the IELTS Speaking exam. Students will also learn what to say and what to avoid. During the course students will interact with the trainer but will also be expected to practice speaking activities in pairs with other students in the class to improve their confidence.
Students will also get practice with feedback and ideas from the trainer to understand their own weaknesses and how to correct them through self-study.
Students will be expected to develop their self-study skills and develop their language abilities independently through homework and activities in class in order to succeed in the IELTS exam.
Course structure
The course runs three times a week, 3 hrs each session.
Total time is 72hours (8 weeks).
The minimum level to join should be Pre Intermediate.
